Crisis · Discharge in 24-72 hours

Mom's coming home from the hospital. We can have a caregiver there by 5pm tomorrow.

Free phone consultation in five minutes. We'll match you with vetted local agencies that can start in 24 hours — and tell you upfront what it costs.

  • Trained caregivers ready to start in 24-48 hours, not next week
  • Personally vetted local agencies — not a 30-agency list from the social worker
  • Free, fast, no-pressure. We're paid by the agencies if you hire them, never by you.

§ 01 · How it works

Three steps, two days.

01

A 5-minute call.

Tell us what hospital, what date, what kind of help. We listen, we don't sell. The advisor is a real person who has done this for their own family, not a script reader.

02

We match in 24 hours.

We talk to two or three agencies in your zip code that have caregivers available by your discharge date. We text you the names and what we know about each one. You pick.

03

They call you.

The agency that gets to your call first is usually the one you go with. If none of them answer fast, we'll send a backup list immediately. The whole process from your first call to a caregiver in the home is typically 24-48 hours.

§ 02 · The real numbers

Honest pricing — no "call for a quote."

For non-medical home care after a hospital discharge, expect roughly $30-$38 an hour in 2026. The exact number depends on your city, hours per week, and the complexity of care.

~$41K/yr
24 hours/week (a few hrs each day)
~$68K/yr
40 hours/week (8 hrs weekday)
$300-420/day
24-hour live-in care
$30-38/hr
Standard non-medical home care rate

Who pays for it.

Most insurance does not cover this. Medicare does not cover non-medical home care — it only covers short-term skilled home health when you've just been discharged with a doctor's order. Long-term care insurance might. Medicaid waivers might. VA Aid & Attendance covers it for eligible veterans. We'll walk you through what your specific situation can use.

§ 03 · Why we exist

We're not A Place for Mom.

We're not a directory. We don't list 30 agencies and let you call them. We pre-screen two or three and put you on the phone with the one most likely to answer first.
We're not a hospital social worker. Hospital social workers are stretched thin and have to give you the full list of approved agencies — they can't recommend.
We're not a salesperson. Our advisors are people who have done this for their own family. We're paid only when an agency takes a client; you pay nothing, ever.
We're not a medical provider. We don't diagnose, prescribe, or coordinate clinical care. For that, your doctor's office is the right call.
§ 04 · FAQ

What people ask before they call.

How fast is "fast"?

Average call-back is under 5 minutes during business hours. After 7pm or weekends we'll respond within 30 minutes. If it's a true emergency, we have an on-call advisor after midnight.

How are the agencies vetted?

We check state licensing, current insurance, complaint history, the actual caregiver count and turnover rate, and we've talked to other clients. We swap out any agency whose call-answer rate falls below 60%.

What if the first caregiver doesn't work out?

This happens. We'll get the agency to send a different caregiver, or we'll match you with a different agency entirely. Caregiver mismatch is the most common reason matches fail; we treat it as expected, not exceptional.

Will this work for VA Aid & Attendance?

Yes. Most of our partner agencies accept VA Aid & Attendance for veterans and surviving spouses. We can route you to a benefits counselor first if you haven't applied.

What if I just want a list of agencies and to do this myself?

We can give you that. Email hello@latelight.co and we'll send a vetted list for your zip code. It's slower than the phone match, but if you want to handle it yourself, that's a real option.

Are you paid by these agencies?

Yes. Agencies pay us a flat fee when they take a client we send. We do not get paid more for sending bigger contracts. We do not get paid by the family ever.
